Vestibular Rehabilitation

Vestibular rehabilitation is a form of physical therapy that uses specific exercises and techniques to decrease dizziness. Some of these exercises rely on the remarkable plasticity of our brain to take a stimulus, and use that stimulus over time to decrease symptoms of dizziness or vertigo. Other exercises are intended to re-position inner ear particles that have moved out of place. Still others focus on improving dynamic visual input.

Wendy has advanced training in vestibular rehabilitation, and over 16 years of clinical experience managing many types of vestibular disorders.

Concussion Rehabilitation

Concussion is a mild traumatic brain injury caused by a blow to the head or shaking of the head. This can lead to or cause a variety of neurological symptoms. It is imperative that a patient receive objective, evidence-based assessments as soon as possible post injury to determine return to play or work recommendations.

Wendy has extensive experience in treating concussion in student-athletes, adults, and patients with chronic symptoms post-concussion. She is adept in administering ImPACT assessments, NASA lean test, Buffalo Treadmill testing for her clients.

Migraine Care

Balance and Falls Prevention

Migraine is the most common headache syndrome in the US, affecting more women than men. As a headache disorder, it is responsible for lost work and play time. It can even cause dizziness and vertigo!

The best care for migraine is multi-modal. Thus patients may see a neurologist or their primary care provider for medical management. Physical therapy is an adjunct that can address lifestyle factors, visual triggers, and cervical spine dysfunction to assist with migraine management.

Falls are the most common cause of injury in adults of all ages, and our risk of falling increases with age. Physical therapy can provide critical strengthening and mobility activities to improve your balance and decrease your falls risk. Getting PT in your home provides the advantage of working within your own environment. Your therapist can watch you move around your own home which often identifies obstacles that would not be obvious if you were treated in a clinical setting.
